Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Khasian *cʰǝriŋ, from Proto-Austroasiatic *sliŋ ~ sliiŋ ~ sliəŋ ~ slaiŋ (to be tilted, to squint). Cognate with Bahnar həreːŋ (to lean over), as well as with Bahnar pliːŋ (to squint) and Khmer ស្រលៀង (srɑliəng, cross-eyed). Doublet of shyngkhliang.[1]
