Cognate with Old Frisian thikke (West Frisian tsjok), Old Saxon thikki (thick, dense) (Low German dick), Dutch dik, Old High German dicki (thick) (German dick), Old Norse þykkr, þjokkr, þjukkr (thick) (Icelandic þykkur, Danish tyk).
