Etymology[edit]

Anatolian name, probably Luwian, from Proto-Anatolian *tr̥Hʷánts (Anatolian storm god), participle form of Proto-Indo-European *terh₂- (to overcome, pass through). Cognate with Hittite 𒅎; more at Tarḫunz.
