Neuter plural form of εισαγωγικός (“introductory”).

Noun

εισαγωγικά (eisagogiká) n pl

1. (grammar, typography) guillemets, quotation marks, chevrons, duckfoot quotes, the Unicode double angle quotation mark.
   (Most commonly in Greek: « or », and in English “ or ”.)

Usage notes

«Μιλάει σοβαρά;» ρώτησε την Μαρία. ("Is he serious?" he asked Maria.)

«Ναι, σίγουρα», αποκρίθηκε. ("Yes, certainly", she replied.)

Compare this with the παύλα ( ‒ ), which is also used for recording Greek speech.
