From Proto-Indo-European *nū (now). Cognate with Lithuanian (now, well now), Latin num (now), Latin nunc (now, soon, today, nowadays), Sanskrit [script needed] (nū, nu, now). [Devanagari needed], and Proto-Germanic *nu (English now).
