Bulgarian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Old Church Slavonic бꙑльѥ (bylĭje, plant, grass), from Proto-Slavic *bylьje (herbage), originally a collective sg. tantum with meaning cluster of weeds/herbs. Morphologically equivalent to Proto-Slavic *bylь (herb) +‎ (-e). Out of use and replaced by билка (bilka).
