Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Turkic *ẹsürük (drunk, intoxicated), a participle from Proto-Turkic *ẹsür- (to get drunk/intoxicated).

Compare to Old Uyghur [script needed] (es(ü)rük, drunk); Karachay-Balkar эсирик (esirik, drunk), Southern Altai эзирик (ezirik, drunk), Khakas изірік (izìrìk, drunk), Tuvan эзирик (ezirik, drunk), Yakut итирик (itirik, drunk), etc.
