Bulgarian[edit]

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): [koˈɡɔ]
  • (file)

Pronoun[edit]

кого́ (kogósg (interrogative)

  1. accusative singular of кой (koj); whom, who (used as the direct object of a verb.)
    Кого поканиха?
    Kogo pokaniha?
    Whom did they invite?
    Попитах я кого е видяла.
    Popitah ja kogo e vidjala.
I asked her who she had seen.
  2. prepositional singular of кой (koj); whom, who (used as the object of a preposition.)
    С кого разговарям?
    S kogo razgovarjam?
    With whom am I speaking?
    На кого да пиша?
    Na kogo da piša?
    To whom should I write?
Чудя се от кого беше писмото.
Čudja se ot kogo beše pismoto.
I wonder who the letter was from.

Usage notes[edit]

The accusative and prepositional forms are used only when кой is on its own (not in front of a noun) and refers to a person. In informal Bulgarian the nominative form is often used instead of the accusative and prepositional ones (Кой поканиха, с кой разговарям). This usage is not considered standard.
