The word was transliterated into Armenian following Western Armenian pronunciation of the letter ճ (č), which is IPA(key): [d͡ʒ]. The same happened in Ճապոնիա (Čaponia), Ճավա (Čava), Ճամայկա (Čamayka), ճիզվիտ (čizvit).
