Etymology[edit]

The origin is unknown. J̌ahukyan remarks, that in view of abundance of i-stems in Urartian we may look for Urartian origin in Armenian unetymologized i-stems, such as this one.

According to Ačaṙyan, Old Georgian აკუმი (akumi, chair, bench; pile, heap) is borrowed from Armenian. For (-b) he compares պաշտգամ (paštgam) : պատշգամբ (patšgamb), սալամ (salam) : սալամբ (salamb).
