Old Armenian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

An onomatopoeia, possibly going back to Proto-Indo-European *meh₂-i- and cognate with Sanskrit मिमाति (mimāti, to bleat), Ancient Greek μηκάομαι (mēkáomai, to bleat).
