Etymology[edit]

From յոգն (yogn, numerous, much, plenty). For the semantics compare Ancient Greek ὄχλος (ókhlos, crowd, throng; mass, multitude; annoyance, trouble), ὀχλέω (okhléō, to be crowded, to move, to disturb; to trouble, to importune), ἐνοχλέω (enokhléō, to trouble, annoy; to be troubled, annoyed; to be unwell, overburdened with work).
