From Old Persian *𐎥𐎴𐏀𐎲𐎼 (ganzabara-, treasure-bearer), from Median *ganzabara-. Cognate with Jewish Aramaic גִּזִבָּרָא (gizbārāʾ), Classical Syriac ܓܙܒܪܐ (gēzaḇrāʾ).
