1. Third-person masculine plural vav-consecutive imperfect (hence past tense) of אָמַר (amár).
   • Tanach, Exodus 5:1, with translation of the King James Version:

     וְאַחַר בָּאוּ מֹשֶׁה וְאַהֲרֹן וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֶל־פַּרְעֹה

     v'achár báu moshé v'aharón vayom'rú el-par'ó

     And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh
