  1. (And) (he/it) died: third-person masculine singular vav-consecutive imperfect (hence past tense) of מת.
    • Exodus 1:6, with translation of the King James Version:
      וַיָּמָת יוֹסֵף וְכָל אֶחָיו וְכֹל הַדּוֹר הַהוּא
      And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.
