Etymology[edit]

From the Babylonian Talmud Kidushín chapter 1, where a verse from Scripture is brought as a proof, the practice in Judea is brought as another with the introductory word ועוד (and furthermore), and the Talmud challenges: יהודה ועוד לקרא (Judea is an 'and furthermore' to Scripture?).
