Compare Northern Kurdish agir, Central Kurdish ئاتەر (ater), Avestan 𐬁𐬙𐬀𐬭𐬱 (ātarš, fire), Ossetian арт (art), Pashto [script?] (or); compare also Old Armenian այրեմ (ayrem), Serbo-Croatian vatra, Irish áith (kiln), Welsh odyn, Umbrian [script?] (atru), and Latin āter, which may be derived from the same ultimate root.
