Etymology 1[edit]

From the root ز ح ل (z-ḥ-l) meaning "to be distant or remote", "to linger away from others"; so called as it is the furthest and has the slowest orbital period of the classical seven heavenly bodies (counting the Sun and the Moon, without the inclusion of Earth).
