From ܐܪܝܟܐ (ʾărīḵāʾ, long), from the root ܐ-ܪ-ܟ (IPA(key): /ʔ-r-k/) related to lengthening + the abstract noun ending ܘܬܐ- (-ūṯāʾ). Compare Hebrew אֲרִיכוּת (ʾărîḵûṯ).
