From Akkadian 𒈬𒅎𒈠 (šaddaqdim), from 𒈬 (šattum, year) + 𒂵𒀜𒈬𒌝 (qadmum, early, before).[1] Compare Hebrew אֶשְׁתָּקַד (eshtakád, ʾeštāqaḏ).
