Etymology[edit]

From ܢܓܪܐ (naggārāʾ, carpenter), from Akkadian 𒉄 (naggāru [NAGAR]), from Sumerian 𒉄 (nagar) + the abstract noun ending ܘܬܐ- (-ūṯāʾ). Compare Hebrew נַגָּרוּת (naggārûṯ).
