Inherited from Old Marathi चांग (cāṃga), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀘𑀁𑀕 (caṃga), from Sanskrit चंग (caṃga). Cognate to Hindi चंगा (caṅgā), Sindhi चंङो and Punjabi ਚੰਗਾ (caṅgā).
