Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀥𑀽𑀫 (dhūma), from Sanskrit धूम (dhūmá), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *dʰuHmás, from Proto-Indo-European *dʰuh₂mós (“smoke”). Doublet of धूम (dhūm), a tatsama.
