Etymology[edit]

Learned borrowing from Sanskrit धूसर (dhūsara), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *dʰewh₂- (smoke, mist). Doublet of ধূম (dhum, smoke), ধোঁয়া (dhō̃ẇa, smoke) and ধুলো (dhulō, dust).
