A compound of カ行 (kagyō), “‘k-line’”), 変格 (henkaku), “‘irregular’”), and 活用 (katsuyō), “‘conjugation’”).
カ行変格活用 (hiragana かぎょうへんかくかつよう, romaji kagyō henkaku katsuyō)
- (grammar) k-irregular conjugation; a verbal conjugation class in which the verb stem ends in k- with the following irregular inflections are o/i/u/uru/ure/o, with minor historical changes. Example:
