Simplified in the Heian period from the man'yōgana kanji 久.

ク (romaji ku)
- The [ku] phoneme, typically in words of non-Japanese origin.
- The eighth character in the gojūon ordering of katakana. The previous character is キ and the next character is ケ. The equivalent hiragana character is く.
