Etymology

From French sabotage. Abbreviated to sabo and suffixed with Japanese 〜る to make it into a verb. Note that, unusually, this is written in mixed kana.

Verb

サボる (godan conjugation, hiragana さぼる, romaji saboru)

1. to skip; to play hooky; to be truant
2. to slack off, shirk one's duties
