The main aim is to study and research the instrument as well as support, help and communicate with other qin players in Japan and in China.

Usage notes

• In the past, the 古琴 was referred to only as 琴, but it has the prefix 古- to distinguish it from other instruments which also use the word 琴. It can be referred to as 琴 after 古琴 is used in the first instance.
• It is sometimes confused with the guzheng (trad. 古箏, simpl. 古筝) which is a different stringed instrument.
