Compound of 因果 (inga, “cause and effect; karmic results, fate; misfortune”) + 応報 (ōhō, “retribution”). Originally from Buddhist contexts, but now more widely used.
因果応報 (hiragana いんがおうほう, romaji inga ōhō, historical hiragana いんぐゎおうほう)
- retribution, karma: good fortune for those who have done good deeds, and misfortune for those who have done bad deeds
