Etymology[edit]
Phono-semantic compound (形聲): semantic 哥 + phonetic 欠 (“blow”).
Note that the components on the left are 可, with two separate strokes (horizontal and vertical: 一 + 丨) on the upper right, rather than single turning stroke (折, zhé), as in 句. In fact, 口 is drawn between the 一 stroke and the 丨 stroke.
