   Yesterday I swam 5 kilometers at the gym.

   今年、彼はドーバー海峡を泳いで渡るつもりです。

   ことし、かれはドーバーかいきょうをおよいでわたるつもりです。

   Kotoshi, kare wa dōbākaikyō o oyoide wataru tsumori desu.

   This year He's going to swim over the Strait of Dover.

   私はここで泳ぐことができます。

   わたしはここでおよぐ'ことができます。

   Watashi wa koko de oyogu koto ga dekimasu.

   I can swim here.

   私は泳ぐことができない。

   わたしはおよぐことができない。

   Watashi wa oyogu koto ga dekinai.

   I can not swim.
