A brownish-purple ointment, prepared from Herba Erodii seu Geranii, and applied topically in traditional Chinese medicine "to remove damp and counteract toxicity, to arrest discharge and promote the growth of muscle, in the treatment of ezema, carbuncle, sores, boils due to retention of damp-toxicity, and scalding by hot water or fire".
