From 雪 (snow) + 濃 (thick, strong, concentrated) + 湯 (soup); from the soup's whitish, cloudy appearance and concentrated flavor. Apparently a corruption of the original name, 선농탕 (seonnongtang, “soup of the venerated farmer”, 先農湯).
