Etymology[edit]
青 ("green") + 瑣 ("chain link") + 門 ("gate")
- The name of one of the gates to the southern palace (南宮), which was located in Luoyang during the Han Dynasty. It derived its name from the fact that the top of the gate was decorated with swirl patterns (resembling the links of a chain), and the gate was painted green.
