Etymology[edit]

First attested in the Seokbo sangjeol (釋譜詳節 / 석보상절), 1447, as Middle Korean 져므니 (Yale: cyemuni). From the adjective 젊— (jeom-, “to be young”), Middle Korean 졈다 (Yale: cyemta).
