First attested in the Hunmong jahoe (訓蒙字會 / 훈몽자회), 1527, as Middle Korean ᄒᆡᆺ모로 (Yale: hoysmwolwo). Equivalent to (hae, sun) +‎ (-s-, genitive marker) +‎ 무리 (muri, halo, ring). See the respective articles for more.
