According to Kloekhorst, from Proto-Indo-European *hโor-o-, o-grade form of *hโer- (โto fitโ), with the laryngeal neutralized before PIE */o/. Cognate with Lycian [script needed] (ara-, โriteโ), Sanskrit เค เคฐเคฎเฅ (รกram, โfittinglyโ), เคเคค (แนtรก, โtruthโ), Ancient Greek แผฯฮฑฯฮฏฯฮบฯ (ararรญskล, โto joinโ).
