Romanian[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Probably from a Vulgar Latin -idiat, inflexion of -idiō, ultimately from Ancient Greek -ίζειν (-ízein), used as an infix in Romanian conjugated forms of verbs. See -ez. Compare also Aromanian -eadzã.
Pronunciation[edit]
Suffix[edit]
-ează
- used with a stem to form the third-person singular present and third-person plural present indicatives of some -a (first conjugation) verbs. E.g. lucrează from lucra, durează from dura, frânează from frâna, vânează from vâna.
