In nominal compounds with Kunst as second element.
- An art (or arts), skill, activity, or technique dealing with the subject referred to by the stem to which this "quasi suffix" (actually a noun) is added to form a compound word. In some translations of the German compound into English, the English word ends in a suffix such as -ary, -craft, -cy, -fare, -ics, -ing, -ion, -ism, -graphy, -ness, -logy (or -ology), -ry (-ery), -ship, -try (-tria), -work (-works), -ure, -y. Quite often the same word can be written as either a solideme (solid compound word, e.g. Avantgardekunst) or a hypheme (hyphened compound word, e.g. Avantgarde-Kunst).
