Etymology[edit]

From Ancient Greek -φαγία (-phagia), combining form of φαγεῖν (phagein, to eat), infinitive aorist of ἐσθίω (esthiō, I eat).

Suffix[edit]

  1. Forming nouns with the sense of ‘feeding on, consumption of’.
  2. Forming nouns with the sense of eating in a specified manner, normal or abnormal.
