Appendix:Croatian declension

Definition from Wiktionary, a free dictionary

Jump to: navigation, search

This appendix shall list all the corner cases of noun/adjectival declensions of the standard Croatian language (Neo-Shtokavian), according to their morphological-accentological type. Given the deficiencies of MediaWiki software installed at Wiktionary at this moment, it's impossible to provide all of these declension paradigms with accent marks in an easy-to-use set of templates, so all the inflected forms must have to be written manually and pumped into {{hr-decl-noun}} and {{hr-decl-adj}}.

Pitch accent system is encoded using the common Slavicist notation employed by basically all Croatian-FL and FL-Croatian dictionaries:

Slavicist
symbol
IPA
symbol
Description
e IPA: [e] non-tonic short vowel
ē IPA: [eː] non-tonic long vowel
è IPA: [ě] short vowel with rising tone
é IPA: [ěː] long vowel with rising tone
ȅ IPA: [ê] short vowel with falling tone
ȇ IPA: [êː] long vowel with falling tone

Same goes for /a/, /i/, /o/, /u/ and syllabic /r/.

Since combining diacritic marks are not visible enough, all the the accent marks are provided bound to letter 'a'. Case names are conveniently abbreviated as N, G, D, A, V, L and I to indicate identical forms when case syncretism occurs.
