A well known set of words in the modern world is the "Phobia list". There are hundreds of web-sites and books containing them. Some of these are real words that are actually used outside of the lists, for those real words, see our phobias category. A good deal more of them are simply made up words, something that sounds plausible + -phobia. This list is an attempt to document these made up words. Please note that the phobias here may become real words in their own right, in which case they will be moved to real dictionary entries and added to the phobias category.
- The words in this list should link to their Citations page, feel free to add usage cites (as required by Criteria for inclusion) there so that we can identify those words that do actually exist. Citations should be formatted as at this exemplar page.
- Please don't create real dictionary entries for these words without the necessary three independent, durably archived, citations, they will just be (re-)deleted.
- Only add words to this list that would meet CFI if mentions were valid cites. i.e. there must be three independent durably archived mentions spanning at least three years.
