Proto-Celtic[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Probably cognate with Proto-Germanic *Burgundī, Sanskrit [script?] (bṛhatī)[Devanagari?], Avestan [script?] (bǝrǝzaiti)[script?]. In that case it goes back to Proto-Indo-European *bʰr̥ǵʰn̥tih₂, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰerǵʰ- (high).

Proper noun[edit]

*Brigantī f

  1. Brigantia, Brigid (name and goddess)
