From Proto-Indo-European *h₂enǵʰu- from Proto-Indo-European *h₂enǵʰ-. Cognate with Latin angustus, Sanskrit अंहु (aṃhu), Old Church Slavonic ѫзъкъ (ǫzŭkŭ).
