From caeno- +‎ Rhabditis, from Ancient Greek καινός (kainós, new, fresh) and ῥάβδος (rhábdos, rod, wand) +‎ -ῖτις (-îtis, a member of, feminine form of -ῑ́της (-ī́tēs)).
