Пары хлористого водорода (соляной кислоты) имеют плотность 1,64 кг/м3, а пары аммиака — 0,77 кг/м3. Пары аммиака будут подниматься вверх, а пары хлористого водорода оставаться в стакане. Без устройств вертикального перемешивания газы смешиваться и реагировать не будут.
