[edit] To Create or Not To Create...
- Begin by selecting a headword. The headword should be a common word which is well known, (e.g., select desert over tergiversate) when possible.
- Once a headword is selected, check Wikisaurus to see if a similar entry already exists. Search Wikisaurus (checking the “Wikisaurus” checkbox includes the Wikisaurus namespace in the search). This should find any existence of the word in the Wikisaurus, directly or indirectly. If the word is listed as a synonym in a separate Wikisaurus entry decide whether it has any distinct meanings from the word under which it is listed, and if so, go ahead with creating a new entry.
- Peruse Roget Thesaurus Classification to see if a suitable or better word exists to be the headword of the entry.
[edit] Formatting
See also Wiktionary:Wikisaurus/format
- See also {{ws shell}}
The following is out of date and inconsistent with {{ws shell}}. More up to date are Wiktionary:Wikisaurus/format and {{ws shell}}. See also the actual entries for the current common practice.
Each Wikisaurus entry should begin with the {{ws header|xxx}} where xxx is the headword.
- Please be sure to wikify all words and idioms listed in Wikisaurus, and in applicable places link to Wikisaurus pages.
- Use the following format for the entry, if you don't know what some of it means or indicates, do your best and someone will clean it up along the way, it is a collaborative effort.
{{Wikisaurus-header|headword}}
