Tietoja[edit]

Tämä sivu selittää kuinka suomenkieliset käyttäjät voivat tarkastaa käännöksiä ja toivottavasti poistaa tarkastuspyyntötageja. Kun sivu merkitään tarkastuspyynnöksi, se ilmestyy kielen mukaiseen aliluokkaan luokassa Category:Translations to be checked.

Englanninkielisten muokkaajien tulisi varmistaa että muokkaukset joita he tekevät loisi ainakin määritelmän käännökset-osioon. Merkitse määritykset, jotka eroavat merkittävästi numeroin, jolloin ne tarkistetaan uudelleen - vrt. käännökset numeroin (alla).

Moniselitteiset käännökset[edit]

# ... ...
(clarification of this non-English definition is being sought)

Annettu käännös on moniselitteinen koska englanninkielisellä sanallla on useita merkityksiä, ja mikään ei kerro mitä englanninkielistä merkitystä haetaan. Katso Vieraiden sanojen kääntäminen (alla).

Numeroidut käännökset[edit]

checktrans-top
  or
trans-top (when missing gloss)

English Wiktionary does not use a numbering scheme for translations because such a system has already proven unreliable. Contributors who insert new definitions or reorder them do not always check that the numerical designations for translations are updated. All existing numerically designated translations need to be properly classified.

Additionally, whenever significant changes are made to a definition, possibly shifting the meaning, translations for that definition have to be checked as well. Translations that look suspicious or are transliterated without providing the correct script may also be flagged.

Ohjeet[edit]

Englanninkielisten sanojen äännökset[edit]

Translations to be checked are embedded in a template that puts each word in the correct language category. The format for Translations under the English header uses a checktrans-top...checktrans-bottom and one or more language tags, like this:

English
. . .

# An adult male human.
# A piece or token in board games such as chess.

Translations
adult male human
*Spanish: varón m, hombre m
trans-bottom

piece in a board game
*Spanish: peón
trans-bottom

checktrans-top <———

*French: homme <———
*Mandarin: nánrén (1)
checktrans-bottom <———

Verify that the translation is correct for one or more of the given definitions of the English word. If you find an article that has very poor definitions or structure, or for which it is simply impossible to check the translations, then tag it with a cleanup request if do not attempt a cleanup yourself. If it is not completely clear what a certain definition means, then request better English example sentences.

Once the corresponding definition or definitions are identified, remove the ttbc template and add the accurate translations to the appropriate table in the Translations section, removing any number designations. If a translation table directs the user to another page, then move the translation to that page. The output should be like this:

English
. . .

# An adult male human.
# A piece or token in board games such as chess.

Translations
adult male human
*French: homme m <———
*Spanish: varón m, hombre m
trans-bottom

piece in a board game
*Spanish: peón
trans-bottom

checktrans-top
*French: homme <———
*Mandarin: nánrén (1)
checktrans-bottom

Pidä mielessä:

  • Numbers do not necessarily match those in definitions.
  • Translations that match multiple definitions should be listed for each. If you are unsure, do not delete the ttbc tag.
  • There may be multiple ttbc and possibly even gloss-stub tags for the same language spread out over the page.
  • Some translations may apply instead to a different part of speech or a slightly different spelling. There are separate pages for different capitalizations!

Also check that the entry for the foreign word or phrase specifically includes the definitions checked, especially if multiple definitions are matched. If there isn't already a foreign entry, you may want to start one. Phrases in any language can be included if they are idiomatic, as per the inclusion criteria. In some cases it may be necessary to link words of the phrase separately, but more often the entire phrase should be wikified, even if it's left red for a while.

Translations to be checked are often under a separate header, but you may want to add more translations than those listed there. When you check the last of translations in any section, you should remove this header and the checktrans-top...checktrans-bottom tag. The article will then be automatically removed from Category:Check translations.

Käännökset numeroin[edit]

Translations sections with numbers should be marked with rfc-trans. If a page with this tag is encountered, expand it by making tables for each definition of the word and replacing rfc-trans with checktrans-top...checktrans-bottom. All definitions should then be listed under that heading, marking each with language where the language is unwikified (i.e. not linked).

Vieraiden sanojen kääntäminen[edit]

Translations to be checked are embedded in a template that puts each word in the correct language category. The format for definitions under the foreign language header uses a language tag, like this:

French
. . .

# Person; human being.
# Man.
# Husband.

which appears as:

  1. Person; human being.
  2. Man. (clarification of this French definition is being sought)
  3. Husband.

Verify that the translation is correct and match it to one of the definitions of the English word. Add an appropriate gloss in parentheses and remove the gloss-stub template. In most cases the article will then be automatically removed from the language subcategory of Translations to be checked. The result should be like this:

French
. . .

# Person; human being.
# Man (adult male).
# Husband.

Note that each foreign sense of the word or phrase should have a separate definition line, just as the entry would on the foreign-language Wiktionary. Usually translations match fairly closely. Be thorough when this is not so. In some cases there may not be a direct translation of the foreign word. In the opposite case, a single sense of the foreign word may apply to more than one sense of the English word.
