Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Old Galician-Portuguese Loule, from Andalusian Arabic *al-Olea, from Arabic الْعُلْيَا (al-ʕulyā, “the high one”).[1] Alternatively, from Arabic اَلْ (al-, “the”) + Latin olea (“olive tree”).
