Etymology[edit]
From Old High German reginbogo, from Proto-Germanic *regnabugô; equivalent to Reen (“rain”) + Bou (“bow, arc”). Cognate with German Regenbogen, English rainbow, Dutch regenboog, Icelandic regnbogi.
